Koi keepers also use this product to disinfect ponds, nets and equipment. Furthermore, it helps break down organic matter in pond water.

How to Use Kusuri Potassium Permanganate
Kusuri Potassium Permanganate requires accurate dosing and careful monitoring throughout treatment.
First, calculate your pond volume and measure the correct quantity according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Next, dissolve the powder in hot water and aerate the solution for approximately 20 minutes.
Then, gradually distribute the solution around the pond over approximately one hour. This approach helps prevent concentrated treatment from entering one area too quickly.
The treatment turns pond water purple. As it reacts with organic matter, the colour gradually changes to brown. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for monitoring and any repeat applications.
Important Safety Information
Potassium Permanganate requires particular care because excessive doses can harm or kill fish.
Do not use this treatment below 10°C (50°F), with salt or alongside other medications. Switch off your UV steriliser during the treatment course and follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully.
The treatment can reduce oxygen levels, particularly in warmer water above 18°C. Therefore, maintain strong aeration throughout treatment and monitor your koi closely.
Kusuri Hydrogen Peroxide 6% can help restore oxygen levels and clear the brown discolouration after treatment. Always follow the manufacturer’s guidance when using additional products.
