Kusuri Koi Sedate is a ready-to-use formulation designed specifically for the sedation and humane euthanasia of Koi carp. This product is intended solely for use as a dip treatment and should not be used with other fish species.
Unlike traditional anaesthetics, Kusuri Koi Sedate is a sedation solution based on 2-phenoxyethanol. It provides sufficient depth of sedation to safely perform minor procedures such as ulcer cleaning, scale removal, and other routine interventions.
Usage Guidelines
- Dosage: Add 10ml of Kusuri Koi Sedate per 9 litres of pond water in a suitable bowl.
- Preparation: Ensure the bowl contains enough water to fully submerge the fish.
- Aeration: Use an air stone to maintain oxygen levels during sedation.
- Sedation Process: Place the fish in the solution. Sedation typically occurs within 2–3 minutes, indicated by the fish rolling onto its side.
- If tail movement is observed, return the fish to the solution for an additional 30 seconds until fully sedated.
- Euthanasia Protocol: For humane euthanasia, administer double the standard dosage.
- Temperature Considerations: While Kusuri Koi Sedate is safe to use at any temperature, effectiveness may vary. Adjust dosage accordingly.
- Important Restrictions:
- Do not use in conjunction with salt.
- Do not use below 15°C.
